How we're approaching the Galaxies Ranked season, a new pass, champions, mobile, and more about the future of TFT. It will include:.
Let's talk about the second half of Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies. We're shifting the set length and structure to strike a better balance in keeping the game fresh without constantly shifting the meta on you. The Galaxies set will end up being about six months long with one large mid-set update. We want to keep it interesting without changing too fast. We're still experimenting here, so you may see different timeframes for sets in the future. The short of it is that around patch In addition, we'll be delivering on long-awaited Ranked rewards from the first two sets, starting a new Ranked act, and offering a new pass.
We'll be sharing a whole lot more over the next month, but for now let's dive into the highlights. However, we also felt that it would be important to break that extended time up into two Ranked acts, as the mid-set roster changes are large enough to show a whole new level of mastery. Your rank will also be reset at this time, but at a softer rate than the transitions between sets.
Most players will start the next act 1 tier below where they ended the previous act. For example, Gold 3 to Silver 3. For those of you who will be working down to the hour climbing the ladder and want to know the exact timing, the first act will end when the servers go down for the update to patch For those of you who placed Gold or higher in the launch set and Rise of the Elements, your Victorious Little Legends will be coming in patch In the future, you'll earn an emote based on your rank each act.
Work in progress subject to change. We heard loud and clear that you loved the ability to make progress in TFT, even when you're on a tragic loss streak.
They'll be available for RP soon after the launch of patch Season 2 Set 3 is expected to end around early September. It is impossible to predict the exact time of the day, so the countdown below is just an approximation timed to the expected day.
I will update this article as soon as fresh info is available. Riot extended the duration of Galaxies to about six months, with a large mid-set update. The first ranked act will end with patch The second ranked act will start as soon as the update hits the live servers. Our rank will be affected by a softer reset than usual.
In the table, you can find the history of the starting and ending date of each season. Teamfight Tactics ranked Beta Season started on July 17th with patch 9. Riot plans to launch a new TFT season every few months, so there might be three to four seasons each year. This is only a very early draft as they could reduce or increase the lifespan of each season based on the need of new content: there will be huge changes during each season as they will introduce new champions, items, and balance adjustments.
In the future, the TFT seasons might also link with the traditional Ranked splits. Make sure you finish everything you want to! Ranked mode was disabled in 9. The Rise of the Elements Ranked Season will conclude at the end of patch 1. Ranked will pick up immediately with the launch of More: Seasonal rank system and player distribution.

We think ranked rewards should be about your journey and accomplishments over the season. Whatever we give out should have deeper meaning for competitive players, so we want to avoid generic rewards like XP or Blue Essence.
Lastly, we think rewards should have a social component—something you can show off or something that other players see regularly. A few months back, we tested out some potential Teemo changes on the PBE, including moving his poison to his passive and changing his stealth to camouflage but allowing him to use it everywhere. Teemo players popped outta the bushes and gave us some really helpful feedback, but they were split on whether they liked the direction. The very concept of mail and its delivery probably varies a lot across Runeterra, and most likely even within each region.
Within the city, couriers and other officials might be tasked with hand-delivering messages, or they might use limited telegraphy to deliver more secure information. I could well imagine there being public mailboxes, even regular delivery routes—but only for those who can afford such services.
The empire of Noxus probably uses its military to deliver messages across long distances. Orders from the Immortal Bastion can reach a city governor in Shurima with the next supply ship, although this could take several months and would require some accountability on the part of the carrier if there is any response to be relayed back.
Basically, the only way to ensure a letter reaches the hands of the recipient is probably to take it yourself, or pay someone you trust to do it for you. However, that highlights another truth about Runeterra: traveling is hard, and dangerous. There are no passports to guarantee safe passage. There is probably very little tourism, if any at all. The next big reworks we have planned are for Fiddlesticks and Volibear, the two champions players chose for a VGU earlier this year.

Right now, TFT Ranked play offers no real rewards or incentive besides bragging rights over friends.
And for a lot of people, being able to trash talk your friends is better than any reward Riot could think up. But what could it be? A special Summoner Icon or border during the loading screen seems like the easiest reward for players to be recognized, but it also seems pretty generic. What about a special Little Legend to run around the map with? Perhaps the Little Legends could have an aura that signifies where you placed in the rankings during the previous season.

Today, Riot dropped a major bomb in terms of the cosmetics in Set 3, the ranked rewards for Set 2, and a new type of cosmetics that will be coming!NEW 5-COST UNIT : 3-STAR URGOT NO COOLDOWN 1 EATS 9! - TFT SET 3 - Teamfight Tactics - 聯盟戰棋
This will work very similar to the season pass formulas of Fortnite or Call of Duty, where there are rewards you can earn for free by progressing through the pass as well as other rewards you can earn if you buy the paid system. This means that you could, theoretically, wait until the end of the Set to see which premium rewards you would get before deciding if it is worth your while to drop RP.
The Galaxies Pass will have space-themed emotes and two new Little Legends. Riot also announced that they will be getting rid of the Orb of Enlightenment and instead of switching to a system where you will get a little bit of experience for each game of TFT you play. This means that the missions will really be your only way to get big chunks of XP, but you will see constant progress on your journey through the Galaxies Pass.
Speaking of missions, Riot will now grant only three missions per week there used to be six but they will be a bit more challenging and unique. Riot will be introducing new Little Legends variants that will be available to directly purchase from the shop. However, you will only be able to buy the specific Little Legend one time it will upgrade to the next star level if you already own that Little Legend.
In addition, only a select few Little Legends will be available at the start, but Riot does appear to be willing to add more down the line. They also teased a new system to upgrade your favorite Little Legends. These will have their own tiers as well, meaning you could watch your little Silverwing get blasted by a heavy artillery fire from a 3-star Boom! Finally, Riot also gave us a look at the ranked reward for Set 2 and beyond.
Set 1 players will remember that players who reached Gold elo were rewarded with a special emote. But Riot appears ready to out-do themselves for Set 2. All players who reach Gold in Set 2 will get a special variant of a Little Legend, similar to the Victorious skins in League of Legends.

When we launched Teamfight Tactics, it was a pretty barebones experience—we knew we had a super fun game, but everything outside of that needed a lot of work.
There were a couple of eggs that you could grind for each set, or you could purchase a bunch of random eggs to hopefully high roll that perfectly spiced Pengu. But we've heard your feedback on this fully randomized system and agree that changes are needed.
Before we dive into the changes we're making, let's talk about how we think about the money-making stuff on TFT. Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies is officially taking the beta tag off the pass system.
Everyone will still have access to the rewards on the free path, which will include the same amount and types of stuff as before. If you miss out on them, don't worry—we're exploring other ways you may be able to get these items in the future! We're also overhauling missions. Some of the missions will also be a bit more challenging or at least more interesting. It's been a while since we last talked about Ranked Rewards. At the end of the launch set, we gave out special Featherknight emotes with plans to bring something more substantial in the future.
The per-tier ranked emotes aren't going away, but we also have a plan to increase the rewards for your ranked achievements.
Each set we'll give out a special variant for a Little Legend that was iconic for that set.
Riot reveals plans for TFT season one ranked rewards
They will be awarded exclusively to all players who placed gold or higher for that season. We'll be awarding one for Rise of the Elements, and another one retroactively for TFT's original ranked season.
Speaking of Little Legendsour trip to the stars wouldn't be complete without a whole new set of space-themed cosmic companions to join you on your climb. They've got all kinds of fun variants and a couple of rare animations. Make sure you pay attention, or you might just miss them. While we're talking about Little Legends, let's get into how you buy them. We've heard your feedback around the current egg model and the frustrations around getting the specific Little Legends you want.
In Galaxies, we're making that easier. To start, we'll be introducing a few specific Little Legends variants for example Heroic Shisa from previous Little Legend Series for direct purchase in the store with more to come later. This will either give you a brand new 1-Star Little Legend, or if you already own it, upgrade it to the next star level.
We're also exploring more reliable ways to upgrade your favorite Little Legends from 1-Star and beyond and will share our plans later this year. In addition to the cosmic Little Legends, a new set of arenas will be released alongside the Galaxies set. These arenas will be available for purchase individually for RP eachor as a bundle of 3 for RP.Answers go live every other Thursday at pm PT.
TFT has a ton of depth, and we want to make sure you feel like the time you invest mastering its nuances is worthwhile.
TFT: What should the Ranked rewards be?
This is why our first and foremost goal of the Ranked and progression systems in TFT is to reward you for playing. Our current plan is to kick off the first Ranked season for TFT during patch 9. Nothing is final for now, so please stay tuned for more info! With the pass, you can earn rewards by completing various weekly challenges.
We may even decide to do something completely different based on your experiences and feedback. We want to be thoughtful about whether and how we integrate TFT with systems like leveling and Blue Essence, and we want our solution to serve both players who play traditional modes and TFT as well as those who main one mode or the other.
We may consider XP and Blue Essence rewards in the future, once the mode has had some time to settle in. On behalf of the team, thanks for working with us to make this mode awesome.
